It's getting closer isn't it? A quick trip to our nearest hub of shops confirmed it: snowmen in snuggly knitwear with 'perfect gift ideas' tags, the hint of jingle bells in the music and the gargantuan sized 'sharing tins' of chocolate. It's official, we're on the run up to Christmas everyone.
I have managed to have a completely handmade Christmas twice now and it was lovely. Everyone appreciated the gifts of knitwear, curds, jams and cakes and I felt good to have done it. However, it took a lot of time and planning and I knit nothing for myself for the best part of 4 months. I also now suffer from much worse RSI so I am loathe to start sharing my knitting time with gifts just yet.
So when people suggested something a little fun for the lead up to Christmas I thought I might encourage a little room for selfishness in all of that Christmas gift knitting. I promise to dutifully share plenty of handmade Christmas gift ideas, the best toddler activities for budding Christmas elves and cheer all those of you on who are crafting up a storm as we build up to Christmas. This is not a one way or the other kind of deal, I just think we could
However, I'm going to encourage you to pick just one special skein that's all for you. It can be something quick and chunky just to cleanse the palette between all that gift knitting or something decadently rich with interesting stitches if you're in the full throes of selfishness too. Whatever it is, I want you to have a little fun for yourself this year. And some mulled wine because it's festive so why not?
