Sometimes as I put you to bed, you can barely keep your eyes open and fall asleep in my arms, just like you did when you were tiny. I start to transfer you across to your big girl bed and hook my finger under your neck like I did many months ago as I try to move you. Of course, you're too big to be held by one little finger- those days are long gone. You start and I smile, 'shhhh' you back down and lay you next to your bear.
These small things remind us as mothers that the journey is an intense one but a fast paced one too. I blinked and I can no longer hold my baby in one arm. in fact in the place of a baby I have an adventurous Tot who has her own ideas on how things should work. Simple requests like 'Come on, let's go get dinner' are now greeted with some consideration and possible an outright refusal because you know, there's things that need to be done right in this here park Mum.
How did you get so big already?
Take your time little girl.
