Anyone who is a regular or listener will know my deep love affair with NorthBound Knitting. Whether it's my favouritest ever shawl, working with her yarn or just generally finding Lisa awesome, I'm an addict and I need a fix. It feels great to welcome NorthBound Knitting back as a blog and podcast sponsor and let you know what she's up to.
Lisa is preparing for Tour De Fleece with an enormous fibre update so it seemed fitting to chat to her about some of her favourite fibres and things to spin.
Tell us about your favourite fibre to dye
That's a tough question! I'm always pleasantly surprised with superwash bases, the colours are always so intense and vivid! On the other hand though, I love to see how subtle and subdued colours turn out when applied to grey bases. I guess it really depends on my mood or what effect I'm after.
What is your favourite fibre to spin?
I'm a sucker for soft breeds; polwarth, merino, bfl, alpaca. And anything with silk is dreamy to spin too.
What do you like to spin the best?
Although I don't get as much spinning time as I used to, I always set aside time during the Tour de Fleece each year to spin yarn for my kids. They both love cowls and toques knit from my handspun, I've been making them for years and as long as they keep asking for more, I'll happily oblige. :)
