This month, I’m sharing two conversations about work life balance and staying true to your identity. In this first conversation, we’re dispelling the myth of ‘having it all’. As is often the case with these podcast conversations, this one began as a conversation on social media and once again, I decided to switch on a microphone to take it a little further. You’re going to hear 3 mother’s discussing the conflict of career, identity and their evolving role as carers. It’s the first interview in a while where I’ve focused on family and motherhood as, very often, I’m aware this can be an isolating conversation.
What I felt hosting it though, is that this is an everybody conversation. Every carer, whether it’s a small child, adult or elderly relative will surely know this conflict but also? The pressure placed on women to be the great multitaskers they are is surely a universal experience we all feel suffocated by?
In this interview, you will find some good tips for you if you’re in a similar situation and a lot of the advice is around your own esteem and mental health. You’ll draw a lot if you’re a freelancer, someone who identifies as a woman trying to make her career work and more. There’s no judgement offered in anyone’s choices either. What you choose to prioritise is absolutely your choice and you’re right to do so. We are eyes open about the barriers some face and the privilege some enjoy. So please, be kind to yourself when listening to this discussion, we’re all trying our best.
